Big Sis Tips for Self-Care After Long Trips: Recharge, Refuel, Reconnect

ree

Hey Sis!

We all know that feeling after a long trip—the exhaustion, the stiffness, and sometimes that little voice telling you, "I just need a day!" Well, here’s your reminder that taking care of yourself is not a luxury, it's a necessity. After those long hours in the air, it’s crucial to give your body, mind, and spirit a little TLC. So, I’ve put together some of my favorite self-care tips for after a long trip. These have saved me more times than I can count, and I know they’ll do the same for you!

Here are a few tips to refresh and recharge after those long days:

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Flying dehydrates you like crazy, so the first thing to do after you land is drink plenty of water. Add some lemon or cucumber for a refreshing twist!

  • Stretch It Out: After being cramped in tight spaces, your muscles are begging to move. Spend a few minutes doing light stretches or yoga. Your body will thank you later.

  • Unplug for a Bit: After nonstop screen time from the plane to the airport, give your eyes a break. Disconnect from your phone and relax in some silence.

  • Take a Bath or Shower: A warm bath with Epsom salts or essential oils is the perfect way to unwind. If you don’t have time for that, a shower works wonders too—wash off the trip stress!

  • Nourish Your Body: After plane snacks and fast food, your body craves something nutritious. Grab a healthy meal, packed with greens, lean protein, and some good fats. Balance is key!

  • Catch Up on Sleep: Nothing beats quality sleep. If your schedule allows, carve out time for a good night’s rest or even a power nap to reset your energy.

  • Journal or Reflect: Travel can be mentally draining. Take a few minutes to write down your thoughts, frustrations, or highlights of your trip. It helps clear your mind and bring focus back to your goals.

  • Do Something Just for You: Whether it's watching your favorite show, reading, or indulging in a hobby—give yourself permission to enjoy something that makes you feel good. This is your you time.

Weekly Self-Care Assignment

This week, I want you to focus on creating a self-care routine for after your next trip. Think about what really makes you feel relaxed and at ease. Write it down and make it a non-negotiable. Whether it's a 10-minute meditation or a full pamper session, commit to showing up for yourself. Self-care is not one-size-fits-all, so tailor it to you and your needs.
